Marriage: A Combination or Mixture of Two or More Elements

In a talk written by Elder D. Todd Christofferson, he quotes a letter that was written to her niece before her wedding.. "Marriage is more than your love for each other... In your love you see only your two selves in the world, but in marriage you are a link in the chain of generations, which God causes to come and to pass away to his glory, and calls into His kingdom. In your love you see only the heaven of your own happiness, but in marriage you are placed at a post of responsibility towards the world and mankind. Your love is your own private possession, but marriage is more than something personal - it is a status, an office. Just as it is the crown, and not merely the will to rule, that makes the king, so it is marriage, and not merely your love for each other, that joins you together in the sight of God and man ... So love comes from you, but marriage from above, from God."

Marriage is of God. I feel so lucky to know that my eternal marriage is ordained of God, and not of the world. Marriage and parenthood is a partnership with God where we are tested.

My husband and I definitely don't have a perfect marriage. We are two imperfect people striving towards perfection together. Marriage isn't always easy, in fact sometimes it's really hard, but I am so very grateful for my Heavenly Father and the for the strength and tools that He gives me and my husband daily to find happiness, joy, and satisfaction in our marriage.

Marriage is imperfect, marriage is a union, marriage is of God.
